What is Family game night you might ask? Well, as part of the Whittier’s commitment to enhancing our neighborhood we would like to offer a space to play games. This event is focused on family friendly games–board games, card games, dice games, etc. Our sponsors, The Book Table, Red Balloon ,  Toad and Tricycle Games, and Heebeegeebeez Games, will be providing games to play as will some of our tenants and board members. We also encourage you to bring your favorite game(s) to share with others in the neighborhood. Do you like Canasta or Bunkco and can never find people to play? Here’s your chance! Admission is FREE!

Also we will be selling refreshments and concessions at this event so its dinner and games. We will be selling the following: We hope to have our card reader working by then but if not we take checks and cash.

We take an active effort to track all IP usage and have found in the last two weeks we have had out IP used for gambling, child porn and as a hub for spambots, banking fraud Trojans and denial of service attacks. We have contacted the authorities and are passing along the information. Therefore, effective immediately, Wi-Fi is no longer available to the public.

The Whittier Community Center and the Adventure Playground has been experiencing an increase in petty vandalism and destruction of property. The Whittier Community Center operates on donations and gifts from the community. The Adventure Playground was built through donations and labor by the community as well.

The Whittier strives to bring low or no cost events, workshops, tenant organizations and more to the community. We can only continue to do this if our operational costs are low.  You, the members of the community, can help by reporting suspicious behavior to the proper authorities or the Whittier Center management. We can also help each other by telling those doing wrong or damaging behaviors to stop.

Please help us maintain the historic Whittier Center and Adventure Playground by reporting or stopping damaging behavior.
